Doug Morton - bass, vocals
| As a bassist, Doug is a natural.
He also has a great 'rock and roll' singing voice and a smooth voice for
harmonies and ballads. Added to his innate abilities is a long history
of musical study. As a band producer or leader he shows further natural
talent for identifying the core sound of a group, verbalizing it, and
nurturing it. Above all he understands deeply the function of the electric
bass in rock, blues, jazz, and the entire range of related styles. He's
fanatical about good tone, which he achieves consistently through great
equipment and perfect technique. He has great discipline for respecting
song form and stylistic authenticity, and manages to do so while putting
forth his own sensibility and sound. Doug is the "real deal",
committing every joule of his energy and focus to each and every note
he plays, which is why his credits include working with veterans like
Crusher Green (drummer for Wilson Pickett), Joey Leone, T-Bone Wolk (w/T-Bone
on guitar), Terry Adams (NRBQ), Derrik Jordan, Stockwell Brothers, Johnny
Winter, Uptown Horns(w/ Chop Shop), Susan Angeletti, Al Alessi band, Big
Joe Burrell, Lady Eve Whitcomb, Sweet Georgia Brown, Ray Shinnery, and
Lonnie "The prince of Harlem" Youngblood. And if all of his musical experience and professionalism is not enough, he can build you a boiler from scratch. Check him out on my first CD. The proof is in the pudding. Doug worked most recently with The Nines. |
